About the Company

OrientalDiagnosis.com is dedicated to advancing the practice of Oriental Medicine by linking the wisdom of a discipline with over five thousand years of history with the electronic advances of the 21st century.

The company was founded by a team of Researchers, Acupuncturists, Mathematicians, Computer Scientists, and Computer Engineers who have the education and many years of experience. Together, the team holds Ph.D., Master's and Bachelor's degrees in the fields of Oriental Medicine, Western Medicine, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science and Oriental and Western Nutrition.

About the Team

Dr. Georgiy Lifshits , Ph.D., D.A.O.M., M.S.O.M., Dipl.Ac., L.Ac.
President, Co-Founder
Even prior to receiving his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Dr. Lifshits has been researching in the field of Oriental Medicine. During his time at the Russian Academy of Sciences, he developed theories and models of the processes of Oriental Medicine. Among many projects Dr. Lifshits headed, are the design of complex mathematical algorithms for Oriental Diagnosis (now used by OrientalDiagnosis.com) and one of the first computerized oriental diagnosis systems using the Ryodoraku method used in the Russian Hospital System.
After moving to the United States, Dr. Lifshits opened his successful Chicago-based acupuncture clinic. He added to his vast research and clinical experience from the U.S.S.R. by graduating with a Master's Degree from the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine. Dr. Lifshits currently co-teaches the 'Research Methods and Statistics' class for the Doctoral Program at the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine.

Dr. Yosef Y. Lifshits , D.A.O.M., M.S.O.M., B.S.
Vice President, Co-Founder
From a young age Yosef has been involved with Oriental Medicine. His curious nature has pushed him to explore the field in depth, and search out patterns in everything he learned. At the start of his studies, he immediately joined his father in his research. Combining his dual education in both Oriental Medicine (Master's, Midwest College of Oriental Medicine) and Computer Science (B.S., University of Illinois at Chicago), Yosef has lead the effort in designing the framework of OrientalDiagnosis.com.
Yosef is in the process of completing his Doctoral studies, and co-teaches the 'Research Methods and Statistics' class for the Doctoral Program at the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine.

Patrick J. Wheeler , B.S.
Lead Developer & Architect, Partner
Patrick joined the team in 2006 and quickly became an integral part of the development of OrientalDiagnosis.com as well as assisting in all technical decisions and actions. In his current role as Lead Developer and Architect of the OrientalDiagnosis.com system, Patrick has pushed the system to new heights in both the technologies used, and harnessing the efficiencies of those technologies to bring massive computing power into the hands of every OrientalDiagnosis.com Practitioner.
Patrick received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Chicago. His work experience includes development positions at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab), Motorola, and Microsoft.

Svetlana Gilman , B.S., CCS-P
Insurance Billing Director
As a Certified Coding Specialist, Svetlana is instrumental to the development of the OrientalDiagnosis.com Insurance Billing Module. Svetlana received her Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 1991. After moving to the United States, she started her career as a medical biller and coder. In 2004 Svetlana completed the Billing/Coding program at Oakton Community College. In 2006 she became certified by AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association).
Svetlana has over 9-years of experience and success with billing and coding for physicians of many different specialties, and specializes in billing for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine practitioners.
Svetlana currently teaches the Medical Billing and Coding at Oakton Community College.

Dr. Elena Koles , M.D., Ph.D.
Medical Advisor
Dr. Elena Koles is an integrative physician with extensive postgraduate training in immunology, allergy, hematology, clinical biochemistry, neuropathology and neuroscience.
Her initial interest in OrientalDiagnosis.com has brought her on as a Medical Advisor, as well as an early adopter of the OrientalDiagnosis.com system within her Integrative Medicine clinic.
Dr. Koles completed her Residency at Marshall University Medical School (WV), and completed a two-year fellowship at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Koles is currently a member of the American Academy of Environmental Medicine.

Gennadiy Gorlin , M.S.
Lead Software Engineer
Gennadiy joined the team in early 2009. As an experienced systems and application developer, he designed and developed hundreds of complex systems, tools and programs in multiple platforms, program languages and databases, in different business areas.
As the Lead Software Engineer, Gennadiy is heading up the development of our Automatic Insurance Billing module for OrientalDiagnosis.com, the integration of the Forum system, as well as leading the way in several other core projects.
Gennadiy received his Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics at the Belorussian University, Minsk, Belarus. Gennadiy’s experience includes positions as a System Programmer (Computer Research Institute, Minsk), Leading Application Developer and Architect (Dialog-Avia and Umarex, Minsk), Senior Consultant (IBS, IL), Developer (Allstate, IL), Senior Consultant (TechniSource, IL).
